Insurance Professional
As an insurance company, we hire many individuals who need to develop
specialized expertise. The largest number of openings for college graduates
occur in two categories: insurance underwriters or claims representatives.
Underwriters determine the acceptability of insurance risks and the premium
those risks require. Claims representatives work with policyholders after there
has been a loss, settling claims promptly and accurately. For entry-level
trainee positions, we look for people who have one to two years of business
experience after college.
Insurance Underwriter Trainee
Underwriters work at our Headquarters offices, so we generally recruit from
the Greater Cincinnati area. Underwriter trainees come to us from a variety of
backgrounds and job experiences. What they have in common is the ability to
make sound decisions based on a variety of input and a knack for working with
other people to help them achieve their goals. This position generally requires
a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Your underwriting career at Cincinnati Insurance begins with formal
classroom training. Next, you work with an experienced underwriter for a period
before being assigned your own underwriting territory.
Claims Representative Trainee
A good claims representative truly likes working with people. So when we
look for claims representatives, we look for people with excellent
interpersonal skills and then teach them how to be good claims representatives.
This teaching process uses a combination of mentoring and structure.
Before you receive your own territory assignment, individuals without
prior claims experience work with an experienced claims representative "on
the job" and then come to Cincinnati Financial Headquarters for formal
classroom training. After this training, you will work and operate out of your
home close to our agents and policyholders. Because you work out of your home,
we recruit from the geographic area where a need exists.
